August 7, 2026 Balancing Adjustments

Pathogenic August 7, 2026 balance patch: Overcharge stacking nerf, Sentry/Swarm Nidus buffs, Gyrase Wheel stamina, Heart enemy HP, Autonomic Discharge, and QoL tooltips.

Why This Patch Matters

On August 7, 2026 Aberrant Labs shipped New Patch: Balancing Adjustments—the first major balance-focused drop after the August 2 demo return. Steam and Discord feedback flagged organelles and mutations that stacked stronger than intended, plus Heart HP that felt too soft for a final organ.

This pass nerfs multiplicative Overcharge stacking and a handful of double-dipping damage lines, while buffing underused turrets, minions, melee spray weapons, and lobbers so more archetypes remain competitive.

Cross-read patch history, august-2-update, multi-hit melee, minion swarm, and heart walkthrough after installing the client—live tooltips beat wiki numbers if a silent hotfix lands later.

Organelle Buffs

Sentry Nidus turret damage rises from 70 + 20× rarity to 80 + 50× rarity—static turret lines scale much harder at higher rarities. Swarm Nidus minion damage moves from 9 + 4× rarity to 9 + 5× rarity for Spore and bacteriophage-style swarms.

Gyrase Wheel stamina cost drops from 2.0 to 1.4, making the pizza-cutter melee saw far more sustainable in Heart phases. Conal Burst halves time between spray shots (0.08s → 0.04s; melee 0.32s → 0.16s) and now re-reads aim every shot so the cone follows the cursor instead of locking on press.

Opisthoblast cones now spawn on missed melee attacks, not only hits. Dehiscence Lobber grenade damage 250 → 280. Blastocyst Mortar rocket damage 280 → 300. Pair these with wrecking-ball and multi-hit melee guides when rebuilding mid-run shops.

Organelle and Overcharge Nerfs

The headline change: Overcharge-strength bonuses from Conductive slots, plasmids, and mutations now stack additively with each other instead of multiplicatively. Hyper-stacked Overcharge artillery and laser lines lose the exponential spike that defined some July metas.

Lateral Emitter damage scaling falls from 1.0 + 0.4× rarity to 1.0 + 0.3× rarity, overcharge bonus +0.5 → +0.4 per charge, and it now scales from attack base damage instead of fully-buffed damage—no more double-dipping global damage bonuses.

Katanosome overcharge crit chance +20% → +10% per charge (base 10% unchanged). Phagosome overcharge damage per kill halves: 0.5% + 0.5%× rarity → 0.25% + 0.25%× rarity per charge. Peroxisome explosions no longer re-apply every global on-attack bonus a second time. Mucus Emitter orbs grow with square-root range multipliers instead of linear balloons.

Mutation and Heart Enemy Changes

Autonomic Discharge charge-speed bonus shrinks from 50% less charge time to 25%. Enhanced Boosters and Survival Reflex stop offering once dodge i-frames would cover more than 80% of dodge cooldown—closing the permanent invulnerability chain-dodge exploit when both stacked.

Most Heart enemies gain roughly +25% HP: Cluster Cardiac Macrophage 1300 → 1625 (small 400 → 500), Cardiac Diplocytes 1000 → 1250 (variants 700 → 875), Pericyte 500 → 625, Sniper Cardiac Monocyte 400 → 500, Heart boss tentacles 7000 → 8000.

Expect longer Heart finales even on familiar builds. Budget more Overcharge windows and shop economy before the boss door—see heart walkthrough and antibiotics difficulty for pacing tips.

QoL, Fixes, and What to Do Next

Mitochondria tooltips gained an expand-tooltip overcharge-produced-last-room stat. Settings add a 90 FPS cap. Slot converters can no longer apply to omni slots.

Fixes cover organelle editor and connection-graph crashes, challenge loadouts no longer silently discarded, sparkle particle rendering, more consistent beam-width scaling, pierce unlock wording, controller remap application, and Sinoatrial Node beat-indicator jitter.

After updating, replay one Heart clear on your main pathogen, then retest Overcharge artillery and Gyrase melee. Watch the embedded melee build video for post-buff Gyrase feel, then branch into organelle synergies and broken synergies for revised meta notes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did August 7 nerf all Overcharge builds?

Overcharge-strength bonuses now stack additively instead of multiplicatively, so extreme multi-source stacks are weaker. Single-engine Overcharge builds remain viable.

Which organelles got buffed?

Sentry Nidus, Swarm Nidus, Gyrase Wheel, Conal Burst, Opisthoblast, Dehiscence Lobber, and Blastocyst Mortar.

Is Heart harder now?

Yes. Most Heart enemy HP values rose about 25%, including boss tentacles. Bring more sustained DPS.

Can I still stack Enhanced Boosters for permanent i-frames?

No. Enhanced Boosters and Survival Reflex stop offering once dodge i-frames would exceed 80% of dodge cooldown.
