Platforms and System Requirements
Pathogenic on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck: system requirements, Verified status, cross-platform saves, and launch-week platform updates.
Where You Can Play Pathogenic
Pathogenic launched on Steam July 16, 2026 for Windows, macOS, and Linux (SteamOS / Ubuntu). Console ports have not been announced. The game runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, supports Steam Deck Verified play, and offers local split-screen co-op plus Steam Remote Play Together for online partners.
Slug Disco and Aberrant Labs ship Pathogenic as a Steam-first PC title with eleven interface languages including English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Portuguese (Brazil), French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Czech, and Turkish. Audio remains English-only at 1.0; subtitles follow your Steam language setting.
The Artbook & Soundtrack DLC is optional cosmetic content and does not unlock gameplay. Base game purchase includes all seven pathogens, six standard organs, secret Brain route, challenge modes, and co-op Diatom.
System Requirements by Platform
Windows minimum: Windows 10 64-bit, Intel Core i5-6500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 8 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 560, DirectX 12, 2 GB storage. Recommended specs mirror minimum on Steam at launch—Pathogenic targets mid-range 2016-era hardware thanks to Fast Physics and shader pre-cache options.
macOS minimum: macOS 12, Apple M1 or Intel Core M, 8 GB RAM, 2 GB storage. Apple Silicon Macs generally outperform Intel laptops at identical settings because soft-body physics benefits from unified memory bandwidth.
Linux minimum: SteamOS 3 or Ubuntu 22.04 with the same CPU and GPU floor as Windows. Proton is not required for native Linux builds. Steam Deck uses the Linux build under SteamOS with Verified optimizations including default Extra Large text size.
Steam Deck Verified and Portable Settings
Pathogenic received official Steam Deck Verified status during launch week July 2026. Verified means readable text at default Deck resolution, controller-friendly menus, suspend/resume support, and no input conflicts between touch and physical controls.
Deck players should enable Extra Large text under the UI tab added in launch-week patches, cap FPS at 30 or 45 if battery life matters, and use the camera zoom slider from the July 22 update before Brain puzzle segments. Fast Physics reduces CPU load without breaking hit detection on Deck hardware.
Graphics and physics settings save per-machine after a launch-week patch—they no longer sync through Steam Cloud. Re-tune zoom and text size when switching between desktop and Deck on the same account.
Cross-Platform Notes and July 2026 Updates
Plasmid progression and unlocks sync through Steam Cloud on the same account across Windows, Mac, and Linux. Demo progress transferred to full release on the same Steam account before the July 14 demo delisting.
July 22 added forty new organ rooms, solo Diatom mode, Ephemeral recycle, and Lungs rebalancing across all platforms simultaneously. Verify Steam downloaded the latest build before troubleshooting platform-specific bugs—most hotfixes ship unified.
