Steam Workshop

Pathogenic Steam Workshop support at 1.0: browsing mods, install safety, compatibility with dailies, and what modding does not replace.

Workshop at Launch

Pathogenic added Steam Workshop and mod support in the June 2026 Next Fest update leading into the July 16 launch. Players can browse community mods from the Steam overlay or workshop web page and subscribe to content that loads on game start.

Workshop extends cosmetic, balance, and experimental gameplay tweaks Aberrant Labs enables through official mod hooks. It does not replace official daily servers or leaderboard integrity—competitive daily submissions assume unmodded clients unless event rules say otherwise.

Small team maintenance means mod API stability may shift in hotfixes. Read mod descriptions for patch version compatibility before subscribing.

Safe Mod Practices

Subscribe to mods from trusted authors with recent updates matching game version 1.0.x. Disable mods before reporting bugs to Slug Disco—support may request vanilla reproduction steps.

Mods can alter organelle stats, enemy HP, or UI overlays. Disable when practicing leaderboard dailies or comparing wiki advice, because modified numbers invalidate tier list and walkthrough assumptions.

Back up save data before heavy mod stacks. Steam cloud may sync modded runs unexpectedly—note which mods were active when plasmid progress changed.

Mods Versus Official Content

Workshop does not unlock pathogens or plasmids faster than intended on vanilla saves unless a mod explicitly cheats progression—avoid those for fair metagame. Official DLC or future Slug Disco updates remain separate from Workshop subscriptions.

Cross-read launch update and plasmid progression guides for legitimate unlock paths. ppathogenic.wiki documents vanilla mechanics; modded runs may diverge silently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Workshop mods work in co-op?

Host mod list typically applies. All players should match critical mods for stable Diatom sessions.

Can mods add organelles?

Depends on mod scope and API. Verify descriptions; many mods reskin or retune existing parts.

Are mods allowed for dailies?

Assume no for leaderboard integrity unless the daily event explicitly allows modded clients.
